Our group explores how fire initiates, grows, and interacts with complex fuels and infrastructure. We work at the state-of-the-art Live Fire Research Facility at the University of Waterloo. Our work combines multi-scale fire experimentation with advanced probe and optical diagnostic approaches. Projects span lithium-ion battery fires, wildland-urban interface (WUI), fire emissions, and engineered timber construction, with a focus on developing predictive models and experimental frameworks that enable fire safety to be optimized in emerging energy and construction technologies.
